On the occasion of World Book Day, Ningbo Evening News conducted an exclusive interview with students from Ningbo University's Faculty of Foreign Languages and international students. Together, they showcased their passion for literature by reciting Li Bai's famous poem "Invitation to Wine" in both Chinese and various foreign languages.

"Invitation to Wine," a masterpiece by the renowned Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai (701–762), is celebrated as one of the greatest works of classical Chinese poetry. The poem reflects Li Bais free-spirited philosophy, his musings on lifes impermanence, and his exuberant call to cherish joy in the moment. Through vivid imagery—flowing rivers, frosted mirrors, and golden cups—he crafts a timeless ode to resilience and revelry.

During the event, students from Ningbo University's Faculty of Foreign Languages alongside international students from diverse backgrounds, took turns reciting the poem. They performed the recitation in languages such as Chinese, English, German, and Japanese, allowing participants and spectators to appreciate the universal appeal of this timeless masterpiece. The event not only highlighted the beauty of Chinese classical poetry but also facilitated cross-cultural communication among students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

The event was well-received by both students and faculty members, who praised the initiative for promoting cultural exchange and encouraging students to explore classical literature through creative performances. It also served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and sharing cultural heritage in an increasingly globalized world.

This World Book Day celebration provided a unique opportunity for students to connect with each other through literature and showcased the enduring power of poetry to transcend language barriers and touch hearts worldwide.
